Drilled water outlet for the Ford Model A 1928 to 1929, A-8251-AX. 

These water outlets are manufactured specifically to provide a place to attach a temperature gauge probe. The side of the neck is drilled and tapped to 1/2" NPT to accept the temperature probe.
